An exceptionally unique and eye-catching engraving showcases a splendid 32-point compass rose, also known as a wind rose. This engraving is paired on the same page with a fictitious coastal map, which serves the purpose of demonstrating and explaining the labels used for identifying various topographic features found on maps. Following in his father's footsteps, Johann Bussemacher continued the family business and collaborated with other prominent cartographers of his time. He worked closely with Matthias Quad, a renowned cartographer, and together, they produced notable atlases and maps during the early 17th century.
